Fuel price hike sparks public outrage in Taiz

TAIZ, June 18 (YPA) – A surge in fuel prices in Taiz city in southwest Yemen triggered widespread public outrage on Thursday, coinciding with the resumption of operations at official fuel stations and the implementation of a new pricing structure.

Local sources reported that state-run stations reopened to vehicles today, with the price of petrol set at 1,750 YER per liter. This brings the cost of a 20-liter canister to approximately 35,000 YER, a development that has fueled significant anger and resentment among citizens toward the Saudi-backed authorities in the city.
