QUDS, June 12 (YPA) – Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque despite Israeli restrictions on access to the holy site, according to the Islamic Waqf Department in Quds (Jerusalem).
The department said that over 60,000 worshippers gathered at the mosque after arriving from early morning hours to attend the weekly prayer at the holy site.
Thousands of worshippers came from areas surrounding Jerusalem’s Old City, while buses carrying worshippers from inside occupied territories also arrived to attend Friday prayer and religious observance at the mosque.
It is worth noting that Israeli occupation authorities have, for the past three years, restricted residents of the West Bank and Gaza Strip from accessing the Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform prayers.
