HADRAMOUT, June 11 (YPA) – The oil-rich governorate of Hadramout, eastern Yemen, witnessed on Thursday a striking field escalation as gunmen aboard military vehicles belonging to the Saudi-backed “Dera al-Watan” factions abducted activist Khaled Abdul-Daim in the city of Tarim.

The abduction occurred just hours after he published a video documenting his assault and beating by members of the same forces, sparking a wave of widespread resentment and demands for his immediate, unconditional release.
Movement came to a complete standstill in the city of Sayoun as commercial shops and institutions closed their doors in response to popular calls, denouncing the collapse of basic services, chief among them electricity.
The scope of field protests expanded to block the main road linking the governorates of Hadramout and Mahra in the cities of Tarim and Shihr.
Demonstrations were met with an armed crackdown by the “Dera al-Watan” factions and the “Emergency” forces,” resulting in the killing of a young man, Munaf Al-Sayari, and the wounding of his brother, Hamid, by the gunfire of those forces in Sayoun.
