Hind Rajab Foundation urges India to arrest Israeli reservist Eitan Gilboa

WORLD, June 07 (YPA) –The Hind Rajab Foundation submitted an urgent complaint to the Indian authorities, calling for the immediate arrest of Israeli reserve soldier Eitan Gilboa, who is currently on vacation in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

The complaint, filed with the Indian police, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Immigration Bureau, is based on Gilboa’s alleged involvement in systematic demolition operations targeting residential neighborhoods and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

According to reports and investigative files submitted by the foundation, the soldier—who serves in the 271st Combat Engineering Battalion—participated in the bombing and destruction of civilian buildings in various areas of Gaza, including Khan Younis and Rafah, and documented these operations through videos he personally filmed and published, celebrating the destruction as acts of retaliation.

The foundation based its request on the Geneva Conventions Act of 1960, stressing that India, as a signatory to the Geneva Conventions, is legally obliged under Article 146 to search for individuals accused of grave breaches of international humanitarian law and prosecute them, regardless of their nationality.

The foundation emphasized in its statement that “India bears a legal obligation to act against the suspect,” calling for strict legal measures to be taken against Gilboa.

If his arrest and prosecution are not possible, the foundation urged the Indian authorities to immediately revoke his residency and deport him from Indian territory to ensure that India does not become a safe haven for individuals involved in war crimes.

It is worth noting that the Hind Rajab Foundation, based in Belgium, works to pursue accountability for alleged crimes committed against Palestinians by activating the principle of universal jurisdiction in various countries. The foundation is named after the Palestinian child who was killed in Gaza.
