ATHENS, June 03 (YPA) – Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at the Port of Piraeus in Athens on Wednesday in a protest organized by port workers’ unions alongside groups supporting the Palestinian cause, opposing the arrival of the cruise ship Crown Iris, which was carrying Israeli tourists.
In a rally, protesters waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans criticizing Israeli aggression, calling for the vessel to be denied access to the port amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza and hostilities affecting Lebanon.
Participants also displayed banners reading “No to genocide tourism,” expressing opposition to the reception of Israeli tourists while military operations continue in Palestinian territories.
Organizers argued that allowing the ship to dock amounted to a form of normalization with Israeli occupation and noted that the vessel had faced similar protests at other Greek ports earlier this year.
The demonstration reflected growing activism among some labor unions and solidarity groups in Greece regarding the conflict and its humanitarian impact.
