Gaza casualties reach 72,942 amid ongoing recovery, rescue challenges

GAZA, June 02 (YPA) – The death tolls as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip has risen to 72,942, while the number of injured has reached 172,976 since October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Tuesday.

In its daily statistical update, the ministry said hospitals across Gaza received one martyr and nine wounded individuals during the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that since the ceasefire took effect on January 11, the number of people killed by Israeli occupation fire has reached 933, while 2,868 others have been injured. It also reported the recovery of 781 bodies during the same period.

According to the ministry, a number of victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded in areas inaccessible to rescue teams, with ambulance and civil defense crews still unable to reach them.
