Over 25 militants killed in Pakistan security operation

ISLAMABAD, May 24 (YPA) – Over 25 militants were killed during a military operation in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, the Pakistani security forces announced on Sunday.

According to the newspaper Dawn, security officials said the operation was launched based on precise intelligence indicating the presence of armed elements in the area, prompting police forces to act after monitoring suspicious movements.

Bannu District Police Chief Yasir Afridi said the clashes resulted in the killing of more than 25 militants, adding that the operation also left four people dead, including two police officers.

He further noted that 10 others were injured, among them seven policemen, with varying degrees of injuries.

The confrontations were concentrated in different parts of Bannu city and lasted for several hours of intense fighting between the two sides.
