US approves $108 million deal to sell Hawk missile systems to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, May 22 (YPA) – The United States State Department announced its approval of a military deal for Ukraine that includes the Hawk missile system and related support equipment, with a total value of approximately $108.1 million.

The ministry stated that the deal includes installable trailers, various technical modifications, maintenance support, as well as spare parts, consumables and operational accessories.

The package also includes maintenance services, technical support, return programs and logistical support, as part of enhancing the readiness of the Ukrainian defense system.

The US State Department confirmed that the goal of the deal is to enhance Ukraine’s ability to confront “current and potential threats” as the war with Russia continues.

The deal still needs approval from the US Congress before it can officially take effect.
