Russia: Iranian nuclear issue cannot be resolved by military force

MOSCOW, May 21 (YPA) – The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted on Thursday that the Iranian nuclear file crisis can only be addressed through diplomatic channels, emphasizing the necessity of taking Tehran’s interests into account to achieve stability and reach sustainable understandings.

Speaking at a press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that the Islamic Republic is the sole entity authorized to decide the fate of its uranium stockpiles, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to Tehran’s sovereign right to manage its nuclear file.

Zakharova indicated that Moscow stands ready to contribute to finding potential solutions regarding the uranium stockpiles, including cooperation with the United States to reduce tensions and revive the political path to mutual understandings.

These statements come amid escalating Western threats toward Iran and ongoing international debate over the future of the nuclear deal.
