BEIJING, May 20 (YPA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping approved a joint statement during their meeting in Beijing, affirming their support for building a multipolar world order and developing a new model for international relations, while rejecting “global hegemony” and the imposition of will on other nations.
According to a Kremlin statement, the joint document emphasized both countries’ role in maintaining the global balance of power and the necessity of “democratizing international relations.” It also called for reforming the United Nations to ensure it is not weakened and that the interests of all nations are respected.
Furthermore, both sides stressed the respect for state sovereignty, commitment to equal security, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, rejecting the use of the human rights file as a pretext to interfere in the internal affairs of states, while calling for the protection of cultural diversity and the promotion of interfaith dialogue.
