Iran media suggests Israeli involvement in drone strike on UAE

TEHRAN, May 19 (YPA) – Iranian media outlets on Tuesday revealed a new story about the drone attack targeting the United Arab Emirates, suggesting Israeli involvement in the operation, in what appears to be an escalation in competing narratives over the attack.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted a military source as saying the drones were Israeli, adding that Israeli entity seeks to push the UAE into positions that are hostile toward Iran and other regional countries.

The source further affirmed that the UAE had carried out “hostile activities” in recent months, adding that while some earlier incidents were attributed to Iran, others were, in its view, conducted by Israeli occupation. It also suggested that the UAE’s alignment with the occupation has not brought it greater security or economic stability.

The remarks also emphasized the view that regional security should be managed collectively by regional states, rather than through external alliances.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that its air defenses intercepted three drones entering its airspace from the western direction, adding that two were destroyed while a third struck an external electric generator near the Barakah nuclear plant in the Al Dhafra region.
