ADEN, May 19 (YPA) – A senior leader in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has launched a sharp criticism of the “forces and gangs of the 1994 war,” urging them to “stop lamenting.”
Fadel Al-Jaadi, a senior figure in the STC, said that Yemeni unity was not a passing slogan but a long-standing objective shared by many in the southern provinces.
He added that those responsible for undermining unity were the same forces involved in the 1994 conflict, in a pointed reference to historical political and military actors.
In a post on the platform “X,” he addressed influential groups still active in Aden and other southern governorates, accusing them of revisiting unity issues despite, in his words, having contributed to its collapse through past conflicts and political actions.
Al-Jaadi attributed responsibility for weakening the unity project to what he called the dominant forces of that period, referring to the former ruling authority under Ali Abdullah Saleh, in partnership with the Islah Party.
