Hamas accuses peace council’s report of ignoring Israeli violations in G

GAZA, May 19 (YPA) – Hamas movement strongly criticized a report submitted by the so-called “Peace Council” to the United Nations Security Council, accusing it of containing what the movement described as “serious distortions” that absolve Israeli occupation of responsibility for violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Hamas said the report ignored what it described as daily Israeli violations against Palestinians in Gaza, as well as the occupation’s failure to fulfill obligations outlined in the ceasefire deal.

The movement also accused the report of prioritizing the issue of disarming the resistance over humanitarian and political commitments included in the agreement.

Hamas rejected claims that it was obstructing reconstruction efforts in Gaza, arguing that Israeli restrictions on border crossings and the entry of shelter materials and reconstruction equipment remain the main obstacle to rebuilding the territory’s devastated infrastructure.

The movement further stated that the report overlooked its previously announced willingness to hand over Gaza’s administration to a national committee, while accusing Israel of preventing such arrangements from being implemented.

Hamas concluded by urging the council and its representative, Nikolay Mladenov, not to adopt the Israeli narrative, and called for pressure on Israel to implement the terms of the ceasefire agreement and halt ongoing military operations in Gaza.
