UNICEF warns 770,000 children in Lebanon face growing risks

GAZA, May 19 (YPA) – UNICEF warned on Tuesday that the worsening situation in Lebanon is placing more than 770,000 children at risk, amid concerns over long-term psychological trauma caused by the continued Israeli aggression.

In a post published on X, the organization highlighted the suffering of displaced children, quoting 11-year-old Hussein as saying: “I feel exhausted.. I just want to go home and to my school.”

UNICEF stressed that the impact of violence extends beyond immediate physical harm, warning that children may suffer lasting emotional and psychological effects even after the conflict ends.

The organization called for urgent measures to protect children and prevent further exposure to harsh humanitarian conditions.

Since March 2, Israeli aggression on Lebanon have intensified, targeting towns, villages, civilian infrastructure, and medical and media personnel, resulting in thousands of casualties and the displacement of around 1.5 million people. Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in mid-April, reports of daily violations continue.
