Israeli tourists attack Palestinian cafe in Iceland over map of Palestine

REYKJAVIK, Aug. 18 (YPA) – An attack carried out by four Israeli tourists on the “Lava” “Sweet” cafe, owned by a Palestinian family, in the Icelandic city of Keflavik in mid-August, social media platforms circulated a video documenting the attack.

The video shows the tourists objecting to a map of Palestine displayed in the cafe bearing the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” One of them attempted to forcibly remove it, resulting in damage to the premises.

According to circulating accounts, the incident was accompanied by arguments, shouting, and accusations leveled by the tourists against the staff, including the owner, Farah Al-Qassem, of incitement and they demanded the removal of any Palestine-related content and the closure of the cafe.

Subsequently, the cafe was subjected to an online campaign consisting of a wave of negative reviews on Google accusing it of anti-Semitism with the aim of damaging its reputation.

In response, pro-Palestinian activists launched a solidarity campaign, awarding the cafe positive reviews and five stars to compensate for the damage and support its owners.
