Health Ministry: Gaza death toll climbs to 72,763

GAZA, May 17 (YPA) – At least 72,763 people have been killed and 172,664 injured as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip October 7, 2023, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Gaza-based Ministry of Health.

In its daily statistical report, the ministry said hospitals across the Gaza Strip received six bodies and 19 injured individuals over the past 48 hours. The fatalities included two newly killed victims and four bodies recovered from beneath the rubble.

According to the ministry, since the ceasefire that came into effect on October 11, at least 871 Palestinians have been killed, 2,562 injured, and 776 bodies recovered following Israeli aggressive strikes.

The ministry added that many victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings or in areas inaccessible to rescue teams, as ambulance and civil defense crews continue to face difficulties reaching affected locations.
