Thousands join funeral procession for Hamas military leader in Gaza

GAZA, May 16 (YPA) – Thousands of Palestinian citizens took part on Saturday in a funeral procession for Izz al-Din Al-Haddad, commander-in-chief of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, along with his wife and daughter, following their martyrdom in an Israeli occupation strike on Friday.

According to the Palestinian Media Center, the funeral procession began from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque in central Gaza City, amid large public participation and chants expressing solidarity with the Palestinian resistance and calls to continue confronting the occupation.

Family sources stated that Al-Haddad was killed in a direct Israeli strike that also claimed the lives of his wife and daughter.

They added that the commander had previously lost two sons during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In a related development, Palestinian sources reported that the death toll from Friday’s occupation strikes on a residential apartment and a vehicle in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood had risen to eight.
