SANAA, May 14 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based authorities have inaugurated Yemen’s first unified land port dedicated to international mass transport companies, a project expected to significantly restructure long-distance road travel and improve service organization.
The launch coincided with the departure of the first Hajj convoys for pilgrims heading to the Holy Sites.
The General Authority for Land Transport Regulation in Sana’a announced the opening of the new facility on Thursday, in cooperation with the Yemeni Economic Corporation and the Hajj and Umrah sector, as part of a broader plan aimed at modernizing the transport system and improving passenger services.
According to officials, the project brings all international bus and mass transport companies together under one integrated terminal for the first time, with the aim of standardizing procedures, enhancing operational control, and providing a more organized and efficient travel experience.
The facility includes dedicated platforms for buses, organized parking areas for passengers and visitors, and administrative offices for transport companies.
It also provides passenger amenities such as restrooms for men and women, prayer facilities, and designated entry and exit gates designed to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion.
During the inauguration, the first Hajj flights departed from a dedicated terminal for pilgrims, following the completion of operational preparations.
Travelers and pilgrims reportedly welcomed the project, describing it as a step toward improving transport services and reducing delays and logistical challenges associated with travel within and outside Yemen.
