BETHLEHEM, May 14 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces continued their crackdown on Palestinians across the occupied West Bank on Thursday, carrying out raids and setting up military checkpoints in the governorates of Salfit and Bethlehem.
Palestinian sources reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Zawiya, west of Salfit in the northern West Bank, and conducted extensive searches of homes, alongside on-site interrogations of several residents.
Sources added that occupation troops closed the iron gate installed at the main entrance to Al-Zawiya, while deploying heavily across several neighborhoods and raiding homes, where they reportedly ransacked property.
No arrests have been reported.
Meanwhile, occupation forces set up a military checkpoint in the Al-Shouli area, on the main road leading to the towns of Battir and Nahhalin and the villages of Husan and Wadi Fukin.
They stopped and searched vehicles and checked citizens’ IDs, causing a traffic jam in the area.
Israeli occupation forces have intensified restrictions and military measures at checkpoints across the occupied West Bank, particularly during peak hours, in an effort to further restrict residents’ movement and daily activities.
Around 900 military checkpoints and gates are currently spread throughout the West Bank, separating cities, towns, and villages and severely impacting Palestinians’ daily lives and freedom of movement.
