GAZA, May 07 (YPA) – Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said that about 2.1 million people in the Gaza Strip remain confined to less than half of the territory’s area.
Dujarric added in press remarks on Wednesday that the World Food Programme has reported high levels of malnutrition in the enclave, while restrictions on the entry of essential supplies and limitations on humanitarian operations are hampering the restoration of basic services.
He noted that constraints affecting key humanitarian partners are significantly obstructing aid delivery and recovery efforts.
Earlier, Thameen Al-Kheetan, spokesman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, called for the removal of restrictions on essential needs and for unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza.
In a related context, the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate amid ongoing conflict since October 7, 2023, with reports citing tens of thousands of fatalities and injuries, while many victims remain trapped under rubble or in areas inaccessible to emergency teams.
