Iran’s FM tells Switzerland: Gulf tensions stem from US-Israeli attacks
TEHRAN, April 30 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
During the conversation, Araghchi emphasized that the current instability in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of what he described as U.S. and Israeli military aggression against Iran.
In a statement shared on his Telegram channel, Araghchi noted that he had briefed his Swiss counterpart on recent developments following the 40-day conflict, as well as what he described as repeated violations of the ceasefire since April 10.
He also highlighted the broader security and economic repercussions of the conflict on both the region and the global stage, stressing that the international community should hold those responsible accountable for violations of the United Nations Charter and international law.
For his part, Cassis reaffirmed Switzerland’s consistent position in supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and achieving peace.
The two ministers also reviewed bilateral ties and agreed to continue consultations on areas of mutual interest.
