In video: Saudi-backed factions withdraw from Hadramout Al-Rayyan airport

MUKALLA, July 30 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed armed factions withdrew from Al-Rayyan Airport in the eastern Yemeni city of Mukalla on Thursday, hours after the arrival of foreign forces at the facility.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Saudi-aligned 22nd Emergency Brigade vacated its positions at the airport following the deployment of the foreign contingent.

The factions were reportedly heading toward the desert districts of Hadramout and onward to Jawf and Marib via the Al-Abr route.

Conflicting reports emerged regarding the identity of the newly arrived force. Some sources suggested it was a joint U.S.-Pakistani deployment, while others claimed it consisted of Emirati personnel.

Sources also added that the Emirati contingent included members of the Emirates Red Crescent, whom they described as intelligence-affiliated operatives. No official statement has been issued confirming the identity or mission of the force.

Separately, local media reported that UAE-aligned commander Abduldaem Al-Shuaibi, former commander of the Barasheed Brigade, arrived in Mukalla as the Saudi-backed factions completed their withdrawal from the airport. No further details were disclosed regarding his mission in Hadramout’s coastal districts.
