UN rapporteur slams EU’s pretended sympathy for Gaza amid ongoing genocidal War
GAZA, April 27 (YPA) – The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, criticized what she described as the “bureaucracy” of the European Union and its “pretense of sympathy” toward the situation in the Gaza Strip, saying such a stance has become “unbearable” as the war enters its third year.
In a post on the X platform, Albanese highlighted the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza and urged EU member states to comply with international law, halt arms supplies and trade with Israeli occupation, and ensure the implementation of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court.
She also stressed the importance of supporting voices advocating for Palestinian rights, arguing that expressions of sympathy lack credibility without concrete action.
Her remarks come amid ongoing military operations that have resulted in significant casualties and deepening humanitarian distress, despite a ceasefire agreement that has been repeatedly accused of being violated.
