UNHCR: Displacement crisis in Lebanon is not over as Israeli airstrikes continue

GENEVA, April 27 (YPA) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed on Monday that the massive displacement crisis in Lebanon is far from over, as Israeli airstrikes continue.

In a post on the “X” platform, the UNHCR stated that with the escalation of fighting despite the truce, residents are living in a state of anxiety and fear, and many feel that conditions do not allow for a safe return.

It added that many of those who returned found their homes completely destroyed, while Israeli airstrikes continue.

“In areas still under Israeli control, displaced families are not allowed to return,” the UNHCR said.

Since March 2nd, the Israeli enemy has escalated its aggression against Lebanon, targeting towns, villages, cities, and civilian infrastructure, resulting in thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the displacement of approximately one and a half million Lebanese citizens.
