From the Economic Portal: Is Aden government advancing normalization agendas in Yemen?

ADEN, April 24 (YPA) – At a time when Yemen’s confrontation with the Israeli occupation is intensifying, residents in the city of Aden and other provinces under the control of the pro-coalition government were taken aback by the sudden spread of goods and products of Israeli origin in local markets, sparking a wave of widespread public anger.

Activists in these areas described the development as a “resounding fall into the trap of economic normalization, arguing that it reflects the extent of the government’s dependence on external agendas, particularly those aligned with Saudi influence.

Observers noted that the reaction from the Yemeni public was not merely spontaneous outrage at seeing such products on store shelves, but rather a broader rejection of what they described as attempts to impose economic “dependency.” According to them, the situation highlights several concerning aspects:

  • Official complicity, through the facilitation of these goods entering via ports under pro-coalition control.
  • Undermining the boycott, by attempting to bypass Yemen’s long-standing popular support for Palestine.
  • Eroding identity, by normalizing economic ties after failing to push normalization politically or culturally.

In response, social media users have launched campaigns urging citizens to boycott these products, warning that purchasing them contradicts support for the Palestinian cause and people.
