GAZA, April 23 (YPA) – Hamas Movement affirmed on Thursday that the continuation of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip reflects an ongoing genocidal war that Israeli occupation is committing against the Palestinian people.
In a news statement, the movement said that the shelling of a civilian vehicle in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, which left three people dead, along with an overnight strike in northern Gaza that killed five others, including three children, constitutes a serious escalation and undermines efforts to sustain the ceasefire.
The statement added that what it described as “international silence and inaction” in response to these developments encourages Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government to continue their operations, calling it a failure to uphold legal and moral responsibilities, particularly with regard to the protection of civilians and adherence to international humanitarian law.
It renewed its call on the international community, including the United Nations, to take urgent measures to halt military operations in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and to ensure protection for civilians amid the ongoing threats facing the Palestinian population.
