Israeli occupation continues to bomb Gaza amid ongoing violation of ceasefire

GAZA, April 18 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces have been violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip for the 191st consecutive day, amid ongoing closures of crossings, tightened blockades, and intensified military actions against over two million Palestinians.

According to sources in Gaza, on Saturday, the occupation’s artillery shelled eastern areas of Khan Younis city in the south of the Strip, alongside fire from its vehicles in the eastern and southern parts of the city. Additionally, artillery fire targeted eastern Gaza City.

The occupation forces also conducted an incursion along the so-called Yellow Line near al-Sikka Street, east of the Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City, coinciding with airstrikes on houses in the city’s eastern areas.

These violations persist through aerial and artillery bombardments, targeting displaced persons’ locations, coupled with destruction operations within the Yellow Line areas. Meanwhile, restrictions on the movement of goods, aid, and travel continue unabated.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that since the ceasefire began on October 10, the number of martyrs has risen to 773, with 2,171 injuries recorded, alongside 761 recoveries.

Since the start of the aggression on October 7, 2023, the total toll has reached 72,549 martyrs and 172,274 injuries, reflecting the ongoing war and its severe humanitarian impact on the Strip.

The ministry noted that the cumulative increase includes 196 martyrs recently added after verification and accreditation by the relevant authorities since early April.
