ADEN, April 16 (YPA) – Political sources have revealed intensive Saudi maneuvers, led by Ambassador Mohammed Al-Jaber, to form a new Southern political entity headed by leader Salah Al-Shanfara.
The move aims to undermine the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC) loyal to the UAE and reshape the political landscape in the southern provinces.
According to sources, Al-Shanfara, who heads the so-called “Supreme Council of the Southern Movement”, was selected after other STC leaders rejected the Saudi proposal.
Observers link this political push to the systematic collapse of services in Aden—including electricity, water, and salaries—viewing it as a “starvation strategy” designed to pressure the public into accepting Saudi-backed projects in exchange for basic necessities, amid warnings of a popular uprising in response to these policies.
