Iran warns Washington, threatens to block maritime trade in Gulf, Red Sea

TEHRAN, April. 15 (YPA) – The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdollahi, warned on Wednesday that the continuation of what he called the American “naval blockade” would prevent Iran from any import or export operations in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Red Sea.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted Abdollahi as saying that the continuation of the “illegal” US action of imposing a naval blockade and creating a state of insecurity for Iranian commercial vessels and oil tankers “will be a prelude to violating the ceasefire.”

He added that the Iranian armed forces “will not allow any exports or imports to continue in the three areas,” emphasizing that Iran will act forcefully in defense of its national sovereignty and interests.
