TAIZ, April 10 (YPA) – Al-Mashawla tribes in Al-Waziyah district, west of Taiz governorate, have compelled “Tariq Saleh”—member of the Saudi-backed “Presidenital Leadership Council”—to hand over soldiers accused of killing the youth “Burhan Taha” and attacking local villages, after days of tribal escalation.
Local sources confirmed that the UAE-backed “Tariq Saleh” forces surrendered nine soldiers implicated in the killing of “Burhan” and the assaults on the areas of “Hannah” and “Al-Hadarah.” The suspects were handed over to a “third party” in accordance with an agreement reached with the district’s tribal sheikhs.
The handover followed the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum issued by the Al-Mushawla and Al-Subiha tribes. The tribes had demanded accountability for the killing of “Burhan,” who was targeted by a drone strike while sleeping on the roof of his house last Monday.
Notably, the region witnessed severe tensions after “Saleh” forces launched various attacks on “Hannah” and “Al-Hadarah” last Thursday. These attacks resulted in two deaths and several wounded among civilians, including women, alongside a suffocating siege that triggered a wave of displacement among local residents.
