Saudi Arabia detains pro-STC military commander, transfers him to prison in Riyadh
RIYADH, April 09 (YP) – Saudi authorities have detained the commander of the “Fourth Military Region,” loyal to the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC), Fadl Hassan al-Amari al-Radfani, and placed him in a prison in Riyadh, informed Southern media sources reported.
According to sources, the so-called “Saudi Special Committee” ordered al-Amari’s arrest following a heated verbal altercation with a committee member.
The dispute reportedly stemmed from his absolute refusal to disclose the fate of three Saudi nationals belonging to Al-Qaeda. The operatives were previously captured at a Fourth Region checkpoint equipped with explosive belts and devices.
Reports from the “Akhbar al-Janoub” platform indicate that efforts led by the military delegate in Aden, Falah al-Shahrani, failed to locate the Saudi detainees. Investigations reportedly yielded “dangerous confessions” from the terrorists, alleging they were recruited by Saudi Arabia in coordination with the “Brotherhood Group” in Yemen to target the convoy of STC President Aidarus al-Zoubaidi in Aden.
This development follows accusations from media outlets loyal to the “dissolved” STC that Saudi Arabia has placed several leaders summoned from Aden in January—including former “Defense Minister” Muhsin al-Daeri—under house arrest, with some allegedly subjected to physical assault and personal degradation.
