Pakistan to host US–Iran talks in Islamabad following ceasefire

ESLAMABAD, April 08 (YPA) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Wednesday that Islamabad would host delegations from the United States and Iran on Friday for negotiations aimed at reaching a “final agreement,” following mediation efforts by his government that led to a two-week halt in hostilities.

In a statement posted on X, Sharif said he was “pleased to announce” that Iran, the United States, and their allied parties had agreed to an immediate ceasefire across multiple areas, including Lebanon, effective immediately.

He confirmed that Islamabad will receive delegations from both countries to advance talks toward a lasting settlement, expressing optimism about the outcome.

“We hope the Islamabad talks will succeed in achieving sustainable peace, and we look forward to sharing further positive developments in the coming days,” he added.
