ADEN, March 28 (YPA) – The Saudi-appointed governor of Hadramout, Salem Al-Khanbashi, issued a major threat on Saturday, warning of a suspension of crude fuel supplies to power plants in Aden and simultaneously halting the transfer of financial revenues from the province to the central bank.
Al-Khanbashi, who was recently appointed to the Presidential Leadership Council, stated during a meeting in Mukalla that the government of Shaya al-Zindani had failed to deliver Hadramout’s 20% share of crude oil sales—a practice maintained by previous administrations. He added that since his appointment as governor, Hadramout has not received any portion of the revenues from oil sales.
His remarks exposed claims promoted by the so-called “Saudi Program,” which asserts that it finances fuel shipments for electricity in Aden, despite the fact that crude oil from Hadramout’s fields has not been paid for since the dissolution of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in early January.
