GENEVA, March 28 (YPA) – The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East (Quds) Jerusalem, concerning the obligation to uphold accountability and justice, following the vote in favor of the resolution by member states.
Twenty-four countries voted in favor of the resolution, 19 abstained, and four voted against it.
For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the resolution, affirming that it underscores the commitment to ensuring accountability for those who commit violations and crimes against the Palestinian people, guaranteeing that there is no impunity, and achieving justice.
The Ministry highlighted the special significance of the resolution amid the current circumstances, noting that the Israeli occupation continues to commit serious and systematic violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law, alongside escalated attacks and terrorism by colonists, in a context marked by persistent impunity and lack of accountability.
