TEHRAN, March 23 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed on Monday to respond “in kind” to any attacks on Iran’s energy sector.
The IRGC confirmed its readiness to strike Israeli power plants and those supplying US bases in the region, following Washington’s threat to bomb Iranian energy facilities unless the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened within a 48-hour deadline.
In an official statement, the IRGC emphasized its commitment to deterrence and denied US allegations regarding plans to target water desalination plants.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that the strait is not closed but is impacted by security concerns. He asserted that Tehran will not yield to threats, maintaining that “freedom of navigation” is inseparable from “freedom of trade.”
