Power outage hits large areas of Aden since early Thursday

ADEN, March 14 (YPA) – Electricity has been cut to wide neighborhoods in Aden since early Thursday, sparking growing anger among residents due to the lack of explanation from Saudi-backed authorities.

Local residents reported that power was cut in several residential districts of the Al-Tawahi area from the early hours of Thursday morning. The outage also affected neighborhoods in Gold Mohur, the Telecommunications district, and Al-Qaloua, in addition to parts of Al-Fath.

According to residents, the power outage continued into the early hours of Friday without any noticeable action from the relevant authorities to resolve the issue.

They added that the blackout has caused significant hardship for residents during the month of Ramadan, particularly as the summer season approaches. The outage has also had a direct impact on daily life and basic services.

The outage comes as the decline in basic services — especially electricity and water — has once again come to the forefront in Aden during the final days of Ramadan, underscoring, according to local activists, the fragility of the city’s service infrastructure and the inability of Saudi-backed authorities to secure even minimal stability for residents.
