Missile, drone strikes hit Harir US Air Base in Erbil

ERBIL, March 04 (YPA) – Videos shared on online appear to show fires broke out inside a US military base in Erbil, northern Iraq, following a reported missile and drone attack — the latest sign of escalating tensions between Iraqi armed factions and American forces in the country.

Social media reports said the strike targeted the Harir US Air Base, located north of Erbil and known to host US personnel. Footage shows flames rising from the base, accompanied by the sound of repeated explosions.

Local Iraqi sources said the attack involved multiple rockets and drones. No official statements have yet confirmed the extent of the damage or whether there were casualties among those stationed at the base.

The incident comes amid a growing wave of attacks on US military sites in Iraq, against the backdrop of intensifying regional conflict and an expanding shadow war across the Middle East.

Analysts say the targeting of the Erbil base carries political and strategic significance, particularly as it coincides with reported US force repositioning and mounting domestic calls within Iraq to end the American military presence.
