ADEN, March 03 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has suspended “daily allowances” and financial support for its allied military factions in Aden and surrounding regions, southern Yemen.
The move affects several groups, including the “Dera Al-Watan”, the “Al-Amaliqa Brigade”, and “Shabwa Defense,” as part of a sudden austerity plan aimed at standardizing financial allocations and eliminating pay disparities between various units.
Coordinated by Saudi military representative Falah al-Shahrani, these measures seek to centralize military decision-making under the command of Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Ministry of Defense.
The resumption of payments for certain groups, such as the “Al-Asifa” factions, has been made conditional upon the handover of medium and heavy weaponry to joint operations rooms and full integration into the formal Ministry of Defense structure.
Observers have warned that these systematic financial pressures—coupled with the fact that thousands of recruits have not received stipends since last November—could trigger armed rebellions in Aden. They noted that the measures appear designed to strip these factions of their financial independence and force total compliance with the new Saudi-led military vision.
