Israeli occupation closes Gaza crossings amid tensions with Iran

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, March 01 (YPA) – Israeli occupation has closed crossings in the Gaza Strip, including the Rafah border crossing, until further notice due to rising tensions with Iran.

Major General Yoram Halevi, Israeli coordinator of Israeli government activities in the Palestinian territories, said the measures were taken to protect lives.

He added that crossings in the West Bank will also be closed, except for essential workers who have permits. These workers can use the Eliyahu, Tarkumia, and Qalandiya crossings only.

The closures follow US and Israeli strikes on sites in Iran, which triggered retaliatory attacks by Iran on Israeli and U.S. bases in the region.
