Hamas condemns Israeli strikes on police posts as “grave violation” of ceasefire

GAZA, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem condemned the Israeli occupation’s targeting of Palestinian police outposts in the Gaza Strip early Friday, describing the attacks as a “grave and flagrant violation” carried out under false pretenses.

Qassem stated that this dangerous escalation reflects a total disregard for ongoing efforts to maintain calm and shows that the “criminal enemy” places no value on international diplomatic discussions or the decisions of “the Peace Council.”

The strikes, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, resulted in the deaths of four Palestinians and left several others injured.

According to field reports, an Israeli drone targeted a police point at the Al-Maslakh intersection west of Khan Younis, killing three officers: Khalid al-Zayyan, Hassan Hamed, and Ali Bassem Abu Shamala. A simultaneous attack struck another police post in the Al-Bureij refugee camp, killing one officer and critically injuring another.

These latest attacks represent a direct breach of the ceasefire agreement established in October 2025.

Medical teams at Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed they had received the bodies of the martyrs and were treating the wounded, as the region faces a renewed surge in violence that threatens to dismantle the fragile stability of the past months.
