OCCUPIED RAMLA, Feb. 25 (YPA) – Hebrew media outlets have revealed a major security precedent within the Israeli prison system.
The Commissioner of the Israel Prison Service (IPS), Kobi Yaakobi, organized a provocative tour for a group of extremist settlers inside Nitzan Prison, which included a public display of handcuffed Palestinian detainees.
Approximately 20 settlers, associates of Yaakobi, participated in the tour, which included a breach of the high-security wing where “Nukhba” detainees are held. According to reports, detainees were forced to lie on the ground in handcuffs in front of the settlers. Prison staff provided the group with detailed explanations regarding detention methods and restrictive protocols.
The visit concluded with a Torah lesson and a specially prepared lunch held inside the closed security facility.
This visit bypasses strict security protocols that typically prohibit civilian tours of sensitive facilities. The incident has raised concerns about turning prisons into “showrooms” for settlers, amid mounting international human rights reports condemning the inhumane conditions faced by Palestinian prisoners.
