ADEN, Feb. 26 (YPA) – Local sources in Aden city, southern Yemen, reported on Wednesday that a campaign begun to remove portraits of Aidarous al-Zubaidi, president of the dissolved UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), from buildings formerly belonging to the council.
According to the sources, forces from the “Second Al-Amaliqa Brigade” carried out the removals at the STC’s General Secretariat, National Assembly, and Foreign Affairs offices.
Portraits were reportedly taken down from various offices and discarded outside the buildings.
Sources claimed the campaign follows directives from Falah al-Shahrani, advisor to the Commander of Saudi Forces.
This move came after the closure of UAE-backed STC offices by Saudi-aligned factions last Sunday. The actions have sparked significant outrage among STC leaders and activists, who have threatened to retaliate by closing the Saudi military headquarters in Aden.
