Palestine Islamic Jihad condemns Israeli attack on Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp
GAZA, Feb. 20 (YPA) – Palestine’s Islamic Jihad condemned what it described as Israeli aggression against the Ain al-Hilweh Refugee Camp in Lebanon on Friday evening, calling it a blatant violation of humanitarian values.
In a news statement, the movement said the attack targeted Palestinians in the camp, located near the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others, some of whom were reported to be in critical condition.
The statement described the incident as a new crime added to what it characterized as ongoing actions against the Palestinian people.
The movement further stated that targeting civilian residential areas in the camp during Ramadan constitutes a serious violation of humanitarian norms and international conventions, asserting that such actions cannot be justified.
It also said the attack represents a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a dangerous escalation against Palestinians and their refugee camps in the country.
While mourning those killed and wishing a swift recovery to the injured, the movement held Israel fully responsible for the incident, arguing that continued international silence has enabled such actions to persist.
