Araghchi: Negotiating with Washington does not include “zero enrichment”; we are ready for all scenarios
GENEVA, Feb. 20 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the United States has not requested Tehran to reduce uranium enrichment to “zero” during ongoing negotiations.
He simultaneously denied reports claiming that Iran offered to suspend its enrichment activities for several years.
Current talks focus on ensuring the “permanently peaceful nature” of Iran’s nuclear program, which includes continued enrichment activities.
Araghchi emphasized that there is no military solution to the nuclear program, noting that past attacks and the assassination of scientists failed to destroy technology developed locally by Iran.
He urged the U.S. administration to abandon the language of force, stating, “If you speak to us with respect, we will respond in kind; if you speak the language of power, we will respond the same way.”
The Iranian Minister declared that Tehran is “as ready for war as it is for peace,” asserting that diplomacy is the only solution that brought Washington back to the table.
These statements follow Omani-brokered talks held in Geneva, Switzerland, as a follow-up to a previous round in Muscat on February 6. Tehran remains committed to reaching a “fair and equitable” agreement to end the crisis.
