IRGC’s navy commander: We are ready to close Hormuz Strait

TEHRAN, Feb. 18 (YPA) -Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps ( RGC)’s  Navy Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, announced on Monday that Iran is ready to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz upon an order by Iran’s top echelons.

“The decision to close the Strait of Hormuz lies with the establishment’s top leaders, and I, as a soldier, say that we are ready to do it whenever the order is issued,” Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who is overseeing the main phase of a war game in the Strait of Hormuz, told the Iranian news site Didban Iran.

He added that the weapons brought into the field in wartime differ from those displayed during military exercises.

On Tuesday, the IRGC announced the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz for several hours, coinciding with the main phase of a military exercise dubbed, “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz”.
