Israeli–US tests conducted on “David’s Sling” air defense system

QUDS, Feb. 12 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation and the United States have conducted in recent days a series of joint tests of the “David’s Sling” air defense system, simulating scenarios involving the interception of various threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

The occupation’s Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday that the tests were carried out in cooperation with the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the defense company Rafael, as part of efforts to enhance the system’s readiness against evolving threats.

According to the ministry, the tests incorporated operational lessons learned from recent fighting and included complex scenarios designed to replicate current and potential threats across multiple fronts.

The David’s Sling system is primarily developed by Rafael. The occupation Aerospace Industries developed the MMR radar through its Elta division, while Elbit Systems developed the command-and-control component.

The announcement followed the Israeli military’s recent disclosure of joint exercises in the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea, involving a US destroyer and Israeli naval vessels.

These military activities come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, following a round of negotiations held in Oman last Friday.
