Hebrew media: Indonesian troops to deploy in Gaza

GAZA, Feb. 10 (YPA) -Several thousand Indonesian troops are expected to deploy in Gaza in the coming weeks, Hebrew media reported.

The Indonesian soldiers would be the first members of the International Stabilization Force to reach Gaza. There is no set date for their arrival.

The force will live in the southeast of Rafah, according to the report. Offices and living quarters will be built for the force in the coming weeks.

Although no official “zero hour” has been announced for the first deployments, estimates suggest the operation could begin within a few weeks.

The timeline is linked to a key meeting expected in mid-February in Washington between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and US President Donald Trump as part of a “Peace Council” session.

Leaked details suggest the Indonesian force could number up to 20,000 soldiers, based on prior commitments from Jakarta to support stabilization efforts.

Their mission would not involve direct confrontation with Palestinian resistance factions or complex tasks such as disarmament, focusing instead on organizational and field duties.

The main responsibilities of the international troops would include monitoring ceasefire lines to prevent violations, supervising border areas, and securing defensive positions to separate clashes in agreed-upon zones—particularly in the volatile southern axis.

Observers say “Israel” appears to be seeking international cover for security management in Gaza after major military operations.

Indonesia is seen as a relatively acceptable party for this role due to its international standing, while political circles await the Washington summit, which is expected to finalize the details of this foreign deployment.
