Israeli occupation escalates demolitions in Jordan Valley, threatens to displace families in Jenin

WEST BANK, Feb. 08 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces carried out extensive demolitions of residential and agricultural structures on Sunday in the Ein al-Hilweh and al-Meiteh areas of the northern Jordan Valley, amid heavy military reinforcements.

In a related escalation, the occupation forces forced Palestinian families east of Arraba, Jenin, to evacuate their homes under threat of arrest. This move aims to re-establish a military camp that was evacuated in 2005, a step local officials described as a new chapter of forced displacement and an attempt to impose new facts on the ground.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the occupation authorities carried out 59 demolition operations during last January, affecting 126 Palestinian facilities, including 77 inhabited homes, in addition to 40 demolition notices, most of which were concentrated in the Hebron Governorate.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupation has escalated its measures in the West Bank through killing, arrest, displacement and settlement expansion, in a course that Palestinians see as aiming to impose new realities on the ground.
