ISLAMABAD, Feb. 06 (YPA) – At least 31 were killed and 169 others injured as a result of a suicide bombing at a Mosque in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, local Pakistani media reported on Friday.
The explosion rocked the Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Khadijatul Kubra mosque in the Tarlai area on the outskirts of Islamabad during Friday prayer.
Ambulance and civil defense teams rushed to the scene to transfer the victims to nearby hospitals, which were already under considerable strain.
Pakistani security forces cordoned off the scene and launched an urgent investigation into the incident.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack comes amid a rise in assaults targeting civilians and places of worship in Pakistan, underscoring the serious security challenges and the continued targeting of innocent people. Public calls have grown for stronger security measures and better protection for religious sites.
