OCCUPIED QUDS (JERUSALEM) – The Israeli government has signed an agreement to construct 2,780 new settlement units, in a move aimed at cementing a de facto reality on the ground.
The plan targets the expansion of the “Adam” settlement, built on private Palestinian land north of occupied Quds (Jerusalem).
Risks of Isolation and Judaization
The agreement has sparked widespread Palestinian condemnation, with warnings that the expansion seeks to permanently sever the Holy City from its Arab surroundings.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Jerusalem Governorate described the move as a “dangerous escalation” in the Judaization of the land. The Governorate noted that the project extends beyond residential units to include new settler-only bypass roads and infrastructure, further entrenching a system of “apartheid” across the region.
Forced Displacement and Demographic Shifts
The statement further highlighted that the settlement project aligns with increasing attacks on Bedouin communities, specifically in areas like “Ma’azi Jaba.” These actions are seen as a concerted effort to force Palestinian displacement to make way for settlement clusters north and east of Jerusalem.
According to sources, the first phase has already begun with the marketing of 500 units, as part of a multi-stage plan designed to achieve a radical demographic shift in the area.
